Public Hearing: How to Participate

On October 1, District of North Vancouver Council will consider approval of Belle Isle North at a Public Hearing. You can share your input on this project with council in the following ways:

1. Speaking to Council
  • Contact the Municipal Clerk at signup@dnv.org before 3pm on October 1. 

  • You will be sent a detailed email with instructions on how to prepare for your input opportunity. Speakers are called to speak in the order that they signed up. 

  • You will have 5 minutes to address council. To speak virtually, dial-in information will be shared over the live stream during the hearing. 

2. Submitting written comments

  • Comments must be received before the close of the Public Hearing in one of the following ways:

    • By mail or in-person to Municipal Clerk at 355 West Queens Road, North Vancouver, BC, V7N 4N5

    • By email to input@dnv.org

Diverse Housing Options

The proposal for Belle Isle North includes 108 ground-oriented homes, ranging from one to three bedrooms. ten of the three-bedroom homes include a lock-off companion suite. 

 

The lock-off companion suites are envisioned to be multi-functional: a three-bedroom home for families to grow into, an area for grandparents to live close to their grandchildren, or a mortgage helper for families.

Belle Isle Place Road Extension

Multi-Modal Transportation Plan

The extension of Belle Isle Road will connect to Glenaire Drive helping improve neighbourhood circulation.

A robust transportation demand management plan has been developed to reduce car dependency. These measures include the provision of a fleet of e-bikes for residents, electric vehicle charging stations, wayfinding & signage, and pedestrian realm improvements.

Enhanced Pedestrian Connections

New accessible public plaza

Greater connectivity throughout the site and to the greenway, multi-use pathways, and river trails.

A highly visible plaza has been added at the corner of Belle Isle Place and Fullerton Avenue for the community to enjoy

Located at the northwestern corner of the Lion’s Gate Village community, the Belle Isle North site is currently occupied by 10 lots, 2 houses already demolished. It is directly adjacent to the recently expanded Belle Isle Park, and will improve pedestrian connectivity in the area. The project also includes a new road extension to connect Belle Isle Place with Curling Road, and additional public amenities like a bike maintenance stand, seating benches, and bike racks.
